Pallin, Melissa LCSW

Melissa Pallin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), who has been a part of the IBH team at NBMC since August of 2017. In 2007, Melissa received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon. In her undergraduate time at the University of Oregon, she volunteered as a research assistant in the Infant Development Lab studying how infants parse dynamic action. Upon graduation in 2007, she moved back to Coos Bay, and spent 10 years working for Kairos NW, eventually going back to school to earn her Masters of Social Work in 2017 from Portland State University, focusing on the integration of behavioral health in primary care. Along with her Master of Social Work degree, Melissa also completed a graduate certificate in Social Work Management.

In 2019, Melissa earned a scholarship from the Oregon Health Authority for a graduate certificate in Infant and Toddler Mental Health (ITMH) from Portland State University. Having completed this certificate program, she plans to pursue certification as an ITMH specialist through the Oregon Infant Mental Health Association (ORIMHA).

Melissa is passionate about a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to treatment, and strives to incorporate this perspective into her work. She participated in practitioner training in Collaborative Problem Solving with Think: Kids and the Massachusetts General Hospital in January of 2017. In August of 2019, Melissa met EMDRIA training criteria to practice basic Somatic and Attachment Focused (S.A.F.E.) EMDR, and plans to increase her use of somatic and attachment therapies in her clinical work.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses, tending to the animals on her family farm, beekeeping, sewing, biking, and crafting.
