Originally from the Seattle area, Dr. Charlie James has always loved the Pacific Northwest. After high school, Dr. James attended the University of Washington and received a B.S. in Biology. He worked at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for a year while applying for medical school; it was there he met and married his wife, Laura. He was accepted into the University of Washington School of Medicine, and after four years of medical school he completed his internship in General Surgery at the University of Washington. He transferred to the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine to complete his General Surgery residency.
Wanting to go home to raise his family, he accepted a position in Walla Walla, Washington, where he practiced for 12 years before joining the Surgery Department at NBMC in 2012.
His two children, Carson and Kelsey are now grown and he and his wife are happy to call the Southern Oregon coast their home. They enjoy being active in the community, especially by supporting Hospice, the Humane Society and the American Cancer Society. Dr. James and Laura also enjoy meeting new people, hiking, sight seeing, cooking and travel.
